Dutch Interiors in the Age of Rembrandt

... an exhibit that opens next weekend at the Denver Art Museum.

A young woman looks up from her work and glances at the painter. The darkness in the background emphasises the bright yellow color of the satin jacket she wears. Her clothes, the pearls and the way her hair looks suggest that this is a rich young woman. The painting in the background could be one of the paintings found in Vermeer's private collection after his death. In the inventory, a description of a painting just like this one was found.
