Here I am, Lord
...
8Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I
send, and who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I; send me!"

Happiness is neither
virtue nor pleasure
nor this thing nor
that but simply growth.
We are happy
when we are growing.
~William Butler Yeats
There is
wisdom in turning as often as possible
from the
familiar to the unfamiliar:
it keeps the
mind nimble, it kills prejudice,
and it fosters
humor.
~ George Santayana
Martha Z. took
this picture of a bobcat a quarter of a mile from
here.
This week she
saw not one, but two bobcats together! She took
a
picture of them,
but they were too far away and blurry.
The
wild animals are having a difficult time with all the snow and cold
that
we have had this
winter. Many of the elk have moved to lower altitudes,
but some
people
think the deer
are not strong enough to plow through the snow drifts.
I wonder how many of
our wild life will survive this unusual winter.
Whether you think
you can or
whether you think
you can't, you're right.

5Simon answered, "Master, we have worked all night long but
have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets."
6When they had done this, they caught so many fish
that their nets were beginning to break.

The reason for the
call is not to say to Peter, "Buck up, little buddy, you're not so bad," but
rather, "Stop being afraid now. We have work to do."
The best thing that Peter
teaches us about discipleship is that a regular guy does not cease to be a
regular guy just because he is called to follow Jesus.
