If I have been of service,
if I have glimpsed more of the nature and essence of ultimate good, if I am inspired to reach wider horizons of thought and action,
if I am at peace with myself,
it has been a successful day.

Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of creative alternatives for responding to conflict -- alternatives to passive or aggressive responses, alternatives to violence.

Wednesday morning breakfast at Bear Creek Tavern
Outside it was brisk and nippy, but inside it was snug and warm for ...

... the friendly resident bear!

Harold made a maquette of a possible life-size statue of Bill with binoculars
to sit on the bench we are buying as a memorial to him.

Loie showed it to Sylvia and Sylvia is offering suggestions.

A witness to the light

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light. The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world...  "'I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord,' as the prophet Isaiah said." ... John answered them, I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not know, the one who is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal.
