Preparation
In those days Jesus came
from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the
heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him. And a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my Son, the Beloved;
with you I am well pleased.’ And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the
wilderness. He was in the wilderness for forty days, tempted
by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him. Now
after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God
has come near;
repent, and believe in the good news.’

We must be silent
before we can listen.
We must listen
before we can learn.
We must learn before
we can prepare.
We must prepare
before we can serve.
We must serve
before we can lead.

Think of Lent as an
Outward Bound for the soul.
No one has to
sign up for it, but if you do, then
you
give up the
illusion that you are in control of your life.

Our Painted Toe group had
another tasty pot-luck on Monday.
My mint chocolate
chip ice cream cake roll did not last long!
(Sorry, Bill. None
left for you.)
The buffalo have
been next to the road much of the week,
eating the hay that has been
put out for them.
This fellow has a
big head!!!
Here is Jon again, showing off his
painting. It takes him a long time because
he can barely use his left
hand (only his thumb) and has trouble with his right hand.
Still, though, he manages to
zoom around in his electric wheelchair!
Jeanne and I had lunch at Namiko's,
a Japanese restaurant,
before going to see The
Crucible at the Arvada Center.
It was a very well
done production!
One thing life
taught me --
if you are
interested,
you never have to
look for new interests.
They come to
you.
