Jesus said to them, “I am the
bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in
me will never be thirsty.
Then the Jews began to complain about
him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” They were
saying, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know?
How can he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” Jesus answered them, “Do
not complain among yourselves. No one can come to me unless drawn by the Father
who sent me; and I will raise that person up on the last day. It is written in
the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and
learned from the Father comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except
the one who is from God; he has seen the Father. Very truly, I tell you, whoever
believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna
in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven,
so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from
heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will
give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

41-51

Chautauqua,
Celestial Seasonings tour, and Leanin' Tree Museum
Boulder,
Colorado
At Chautauqua twelve
of us had a delightful breakfast on the porch!
THE LOOK at
Celestial Seasonings!
We were not allowed
to take pictures during the tour here, nor could
we take pictures
inside the museum at Leanin' Tree. We did, though,
pose for this
attractive picture after the tour with our lovely
hairnets!

Our Memories in the
Making group at the Senior Resource Center had nice
greetings and goodies for
me that afternoon, but I neglected to take pictures.
I had to wait for a herd of
elk to cross the road early one morning.
This picture of mama
elk and her little ones was taken right out my car
window.
During the night on
Thursday, I heard the first elk bugle of the
season.
Another party! CV
invited us to a lovely luncheon in their fantastic garden.
Lori brought a moose
for each of us ... in remembrance of our moose hunt.
Jackie and Nancy are having
a moose confrontation.
Kathy was inadvertently
anointed with wine.
Thank you, CV and
Gary!!!

Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Søren Kierkegaard told a
parable of a community of ducks waddling off to duck church to hear the duck
preacher. The duck preacher spoke eloquently of how God had given the ducks
wings with which to fly. With these wings there was nowhere the ducks could
not go. With those wings they could soar. Shouts of "Amen!" were quacked
throughout the duck congregation. At the conclusion of the service, the ducks
left commenting on the message and waddled back home. But they never
flew.
