God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. 4The brightness was like the sun; rays came forth from his hand, where his power lay hidden. 5Before him went pestilence, and plague followed close behind.

He entered
Jericho and was passing through it. A man was there named Zacchaeus; he was a
chief tax-collector and was rich. He was trying to see who Jesus was, but on
account of the crowd he could not, because he was short in stature. So he ran
ahead and climbed a sycomore tree to see him, because he was going to pass that
way. When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus,
hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today." So he hurried down
and was happy to welcome him. All who saw it began to grumble and said, "He has
gone to be the guest of one who is a sinner." Zacchaeus stood there and said to
the Lord, "Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor; and if I
have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much." Then
Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a
son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the
lost."

expectation, anticipation, and transformation
When we
quit thinking primarily about ourselves and our own self-preservation, we
undergo a truly heroic transformation
of consciousness.

The
curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can
change.

Gail, Laurie, and Kimra sported their finery at our annual Rotary fundraiser.
Lurlie, Carolyn, Cherie
Lurlie was a wonderful help in recording names for the photos I took of our sponsors! Thank you, Lurlie!!!
Bill and Jim just had to also wear those headdresses.
Don, at our October Dine-Around, was creative in preparing the shish-kebab.
It was very windy outside, so he rolled his barbecue inside to finish cooking.
Hmmmmm. It did set off the smoke alarm, but the meal was very tasty!
The elk, out both of these windows, spent many hours here this week.
Laura Churchley, daughter of astronaut Alan Shephard, was our speaker at Rotary this week. Alan Shepard was the first American in space in 1961, the 5th man on the moon, and the astronaut who hit the golf ball on the moon's surface. Laura is an Evergreen resident.
I do not think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday.

Then Jesus
said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are
truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you
free.” They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham and have never been
slaves to anyone. What do you mean by saying, ‘You will be made free’?”
Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not have a permanent place in the household; the son has a place there forever. So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
