Baptism of
the Lord
Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him.
John would have prevented him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and
do you come to me?" But Jesus answered him, "Let it be so now; for it
is proper for us in this way to fulfil all righteousness." Then he consented.
And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly
the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a
dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son,
the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased."

Agnus Day, by James Wetzstein

permission of www.agnusday.org
1.
Shall we gather at the river,
where bright angel feet have trod,
with its crystal tide forever
flowing by the throne of God?
Refrain:
Yes, we'll gather at the river,
the beautiful, the beautiful river;
gather with the saints at the river
that flows by the throne of God.
2.
On the margin of the river,
washing up its silver spray,
we will walk and worship ever,
all the happy golden day.
(Refrain)
3.
Ere we reach the shining river,
lay we every burden down;
grace our spirits will deliver,
and provide a robe and crown.
(Refrain)
4.
Soon we'll reach the shining river,
soon our pilgrimage will cease;
soon our happy hearts will quiver
with the melody of peace.
(Refrain)
