Peace!  Be still!

Fear

On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, "Let us go across to the other side." And leaving the crowd behind, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. Other boats were with him. A great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him up and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?" He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm. He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Have you still no faith?" And they were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"

Memories in the Making

Annual Art Auction

Colorado Alzheimer’s Association

Dove Valley

(Training facility for the Denver Broncos)

Hoo Doo Village

by Jan Young

Seniors’ Resource Center

Evergreen, Colorado

We had three paintings in the auction this year.  Jan Young, who painted the one above,

is the only dementia artist I still have from when we started two classes of the program

in Evergreen 16 years ago!

Wow!!!

Katie Brooks and Timothy Flood

Timothy painted this palette for the silent auction.

He also has a sculpture in the Evergreen Sculpture Walk

and I had taken his picture just the week before!

Because Pat Bowlen, the owner of the Broncos, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s,

the team has become a very big sponsor of the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Memories in the Making Art Auction was the first public

event offered at Dove Valley.

Elaine and Gary Sohrweid celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday.

Here, they are astonished by the BIG and gorgeous painting given to them by Larry’s twin brother, Gary Sohrweid!

100 Holes of Golf

Thursday, June 18, 2015

We had a gorgeous morning for our fun-filled, wacky golf fund raiser.

I got to just ride around in a cart and take pictures.

Our Center for the Arts Colorado golf team each came dressed as Van Gogh

with paint brush golf clubs.

Mark Vickstrom demonstrated one of the many different implements used!

This group was ready for lunch early and invited me to join them.

Sharron Leonard had a wonderful ice cream cake

for dessert at our Book Club Thursday afternoon,

right after the 100 Holes of Golf.

At the lake this morning, we stopped to watch the elk.

Actually, we had to stop because some of them were on the path

in front of us and you do not want to get between a mama elk and her baby!

This is a male yearling with little stubs of antlers growing.

This baby had trouble getting over the fence.

She finally managed to crawl under it.

Most drivers are good about stopping their cars for the elk.
